Before this, the Delhi Police Special Cell detained a man on suspicion of planting the explosive device outside the BSF headquarters in Jalandhar that triggered the blast on May 5.

According to sources in the police, a suspect was seen allegedly boarding a bus from the Jalandhar bus stand after the blast, and heading to Delhi. The Special Cell's Counter Intelligence unit (CIU) apprehended the suspect on Friday.

DGP Yadav termed both the blasts as of “low intensity”. On Amritsar incident, he said that while no group has claimed responsibility, but it appears to be the handiwork of Pakistan's ISI.

While the Punjab Police claim "breakthroughs" in module busts, the recurring attacks have sparked a fierce debate over the lapses.
