While it hasn’t been an easy path, it looks like BYD’s efforts towards establishing its presence as a legitimate electric vehicle (EV) brand in Western markets is off to a promising start. In fact, the company recently announced that it’s now become the United Kingdom’s best-selling EV brand within the region, with over 12,754 cars sold in 2026 so far. According to the company’s figures, BYD was able to overtake (pardon the pun) big players including BMW, Volkswagen and even Tesla, and has even gotten popular among private owners—this is despite the brand not being counted under the UK’s EV grant. The company adds that its DM-i (Dual Mode intelligent) hybrid sales have been doing well. As of right now the UK, BYD’s fully electric and plug-in hybrid sales have sold 26,396 units combined, which has thus resulted in 9.5% market share.…
