The escalating obesity crisis in the UK appears to be reaching a plateau, with researchers suggesting that the launch of new weight loss medications could further drive down rates. A comprehensive global analysis, led by a team at Imperial College London, indicates that the rapid increase in obesity observed over recent decades is now decelerating or stabilising. For girls in the UK, this plateau was noted around the year 2000, with boys following suit before 2005. While obesity rates among adult men and women are still climbing, their ascent is significantly slowing.
