Salesforce turns Slack into the front end for enterprise AI

Salesforce is making a bigger bet on turning Slack into the interface where work actually happens, not just where it’s discussed. Yesterday, the company unveiled a new round of product updates, positioning Slackbot as more than a built-in assistant. The goal is to turn it into what it calls the “ultimate teammate,” one that connects conversations, data and actions across the enterprise. That framing reflects a broader shift happening across enterprise software. AI tools are everywhere, but most of them still operate in silos. Each app has its own assistant, each workflow its own interface. The result is more intelligence, but not necessarily more action. Salesforce’s pitch is that the real bottleneck isn’t access to AI, it’s getting that intelligence into the flow of work where teams can actually use it. The updates are designed to close that gap.
