Roger Daltrey has said that The Who “were the first heavy metal band”, claiming that they paved the way for the genre in the ‘60s.

Pete Townshend has hinted at new music from The Who, and the band’s frontman Roger Daltrey has announced a solo tour.

The Who’s Pete Townshend has reportedly reached a deal with Primary Wave that will focus on his rocker’s name, image and likeness.

Pete Townshend, the legendary co-founder and guitarist with The Who, is partnering-up with Primary Wave Music on a range of creative rights.

"Moving forward with my creative and performative work with Primary Wave, at this time of my life when most creatives might be slowing down, is a joy for me," Townshend said in a statement.
