Two months into the West Asia crisis, oil marketing companies were losing Rs 14 per litre on sale of petrol and Rs 42 per litre on diesel. They are also incurring losses on sale of cooking gas to households and jet fuel for domestic flights.
Public sector oil marketing companies’ combined losses in April-June quarter could wipe out their cumulative profits for the full 2025-26 if the global prices continue to remain high, the source said.
