Raiders sign big defensive lineman with big personality

The Las Vegas Raiders have added a true run-stuffing veteran nose tackle to help clog the middle in their new 3-4 defensive system. Benito Jones signed a free-agent deal Wednesday after spending the last two seasons with the Miami Dolphins. The 6-foot-1, 335-pounder is a space-eater who is capable of tying up interior offensive linemen and allowing teammates to make plays behind him. He also has 83 tackles and 3.5 sacks of his own in 71 career games, including 38 starts. Jones first joined the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Mississippi in 2020. He spent two seasons with Miami before he was waived at the end of the 2022 preseason and claimed by the Lions. After two seasons in Detroit, which included a playoff appearance, he returned to the Dolphins the last two seasons. He was placed on injured reserve due to a back injury in December and did not re-sign with the team. Jones is also a big personality who has worn some memorable pregame outfits.…
