I haven't played guitar for 20 years and recently got my old Ibanez RG1570 Prestige from the basement. It has been through several moves and has been stored in not-so-dry basements over the years. Oh and those chips are from a bike crash that happened literally in the same week I got the guitar, 20 years ago.

I started playing guitar again and did my best to set it up myself. It plays okay except for the frets feeling scratchy on bends and the action being a little high. Also I do not care for Floyd Rose anymore, I'd like to play drop tunings, but I know blocking the tremolo is an option here.

I'm thinking now whether I should take this guitar to the shop for a proper setup and clean or cut my losses and buy a new, modern guitar. Money isn't tight, I'd have about 2000 to spend on a new guitar.

What do you think?
