Just curious for those of you with no family, trustworthy ties back home. In terms of your assets, like rental property, brokerage accounts, what happens if you become incapacitated or disabled in your chosen country? Do you have power of attorney set up? How is the power of attorney notified of your situation. Do they liquidate your assets and wire the funds to your chosen country of residence? Is it a one time fee and/or take a cut of the liquidated assets? Roughly how long does it take to receive the funds, understandibly liquidating property will take considerable time. Does someone you trust have access/authorization to that bank account in your chosen country? What if they too are incapacitated? I understand an attorney could answer all these questions, but I thought this would be a good place to start and a topic quite relevant to this sub. Any experience with regards to US based assets appreciated. submitted by /u/DigAlternative7707 [link] [comments]
