He was rated as the 158th-best player in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite. He eventually signed with Maryland and head coach Kevin Willard, over notable top offers from Kansas, Houston and Illinois, among others. Palmer played 8.5 minutes per game off the bench as a true freshman for the Terrapins in 22 contests.
