I really, really hate the culture of feeling obligated to buy loved ones something just for the sake of buying it for birthdays and other holidays--I feel equal distress about this as the buyer and the receiver. Has anyone come up with a kind but firm way of saying like, "If you see something that you're really excited to get for me that you think I'll love, please go ahead, but otherwise I really REALLY don't want any more stuff"?? And if you have, has it worked? submitted by /u/princesstinymouth [link] [comments]
