Napa Valley wineries have been getting some stiff competition from the county to the north as of late, with Sonoma County tasting rooms seeing far more visitors keeping sommeliers on the job. The 2026 Tasting Room Survey Report found that there was a smaller decline in foot traffic at wineries in California than in previous years, according to Wine Business Monthly . While the news for the wine industry as a whole is still not great, a recent report gave a glimmer of hope that things in the business aren’t as crushing as they were a year ago, at least in Sonoma.
