Discipline children in government It is time to discipline the children in charge of our government! Children have a wonderful sense of imagination, it is an inward-looking free-range mind game, accompanied by attempts to make the greater reality conform to the child’s imaginary world. Most children harmlessly grow out of this stage. But if it leads to dysfunctional behavior or causes pain to others, parental discipline is needed as a correction so that maturity can unfold. When the discipline is insufficient or lacking, the child lives in a bubble, and maturation will lose its ability for self-correction. The child may go from one initiative to another in an unhinged journey of self-gratification. If ignored this can spiral out of control leading to dysfunction and chaos in the sandbox.
