Pletnev’s composition of the Pas De Deux I just wanted some insight on where I stand in piano. So, I’m a high school senior in piano 3 honors. My junior year, I skipped piano 1 and went straight to piano 2 since I had lesson when I was younger. Those lessons only lasted up until I was 8-9 and then several years passed before I started piano again. I played occasionally my freshman year when I was 14, maybe twice every month the second semester of that year. Then didn’t touch piano until joining an actual music class junior year at 16. For that year, I tried out a variety of pieces and ended up with playing the phantom of the opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber for my recital and the South Carolina Music educators associations recital. I ended up with a 29 out of 30, which was a superior rating. From there, I wanted to up the difficulty for my senior year after turning 17, so I tried to look for a difficult piece that I liked the sound of. I guess to sort of prove to myself that I’m capable.…
