How do you even ‘wrap up?’ I’m in my early 30s, fourth year into PhD (biochem+mol bio) with a Masters degree. I have two first author papers from this PhD, and the first one was co-first authored with a former post-doc in the lab so technically it doesn’t count as ‘my’ PhD paper (that’s what my PI constantly tells me). I am working towards finishing another paper with only a few major experiments towards the final couple of figures. I have some collaborative projects going on which if work out fine can lead to additional co-first authorship. However, I have realized that there’s not much new I am learning from all these, and I am lowkey burnt out. I used to be excited about the experiments and publications, but not anymore. This has come to a point where I seriously want to transition to jobs that don’t require bench work or any wet lab. However, I am not well versed with coding and data analysis (I have benefitted from collaborations for these until now).…
