Eyebrow modification for an HVAC system? Hey there - I'm way out of my depth on our AC unit and wanted to see if anyone here could help with some advice. Surprise surprise, the unit hadn't been serviced/cleaned in years by the previous owners, causing the whole thing to freeze over, but repairman #1 told us the motor to our unit was broken and needed to be totally replaced ($2400 price tag) while the second said our motor was 100% fine and all we needed was a cleaning. However, the second tech said that the whole system really needs two returns (not one) and that the solve would be to modify the unit with an eyebrow vent that would allow the unit to pull air not only from the inside of the house but also the outside. This would alleviate the pressure on the unit and also let us use a higher grade MERV for our filter ($295 price tag).…
