I've been self-employed for 5+ years running a service business from Dubai. The habits that stabilized my career weren't exciting or motivating - they were genuinely boring.

For me it was a Friday afternoon financial review (90 min of invoices and spreadsheets), writing down clear boundaries for what work I accept, and a weekly call with someone outside my industry for honest perspective.

All boring. All compounding over time. None felt useful in the moment.
