Starmer, in response, said the “monarchy is an important reminder of the long-standing bonds and enduring relationship between our two countries which are far greater than anyone who occupies any particular office at any particular time.”
But further security concerns were raised the weekend before the trip, after a shooting incident unfolded at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner—the suspect of which has since been charged with the attempted assassination of Trump.
“He'll be very safe,” said Trump on Sunday regarding Charles’ visit after the incident. “They are so looking forward to being here.”
