The Apple Vision Pro was always described as the first step toward something else. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman , Apple has now made that shift official, at least internally. The company has deprioritized enclosed Vision headsets and moved most of its hardware engineering focus onto Apple smart glasses instead. The reorganization has been building for over a year. Apple dismantled its dedicated Vision Products Group, folding staff back into broader engineering departments. Apple reassigned Mike Rockwell, who led the headset division from the start, to oversee a combined Siri and visionOS organization. Gurman reports Rockwell now spends nearly all of his time on Siri. Many of his top visionOS deputies made the same move. Apple also canceled development of a cheaper “Vision Air” model last year. Any future enclosed headset is reportedly at least two years out.
