I'm currently developing a device based on an STM32U5 which needs some read-write storage capability for data acquisition and logging, and potentially some read-only storage capability for fixed assets like graphics and fonts, and also additional SRAM. In the current prototype, I've got the flash partitioned for a very small amount of data, but clearly it's going to be sorely limited both in size and write count. I also have an SD card wired up, but only as an interim solution. When it comes to the production device, I'd be interested in what others are doing to deal with the current pricing and availability issues. Industrial SD card prices are astronomical and availability is poor. I was considering some options including: eMMC to replace the SD card NAND and/or NOR flash on OctoSPI PSRAM on OctoSPI But a lot of this is equally overpriced and/or becoming unavailable entirely. I can potentially get around the PSRAM by using a higher-end MCU, but only up to a point.…
