Hi! I am a first year chem major and right now in the last section of general chemistry we are learning about redox reactions and galvanic cells. I have always had a hard time connecting new chem topics to old ones (save for periodic table), but I was wondering how redox reactions and galvanic cells connect. Like we need redox reactions for galvanic cells, but when we balance a redox reaction in acidic or basic how does that affect the cell? When is a galvanic cells acidic or basic? I hope this isn;t too dumb, I understand that ll half reactions have electrical potential based on the chart but how does whether it is in basic or acidic solutions play a role.?
