Only two jockeys have won the Derby and Preakness in the same year on different horses: Willie Simms in 1898, and more recently Calvin Borel, who won the 2009 Kentucky Derby on Mine That Bird then rode Rachel Alexandra to victory two weeks later in the Preakness -- the second jewel in U.S. flat racing's Triple Crown.
