April 20, 2026 — 3 min read One of 16 drawings and petroglyphs Mexican archaeologists discovered along a multi-billion-dollar planned train route in Mexico (all photos Gerardo Pena, courtesy INAH) Archaeologists in Mexico have discovered 16 pre-Hispanic artworks along the route of a forthcoming passenger train connecting the country’s capital to the city of Querétaro.  The artworks, including paintings and petroglyphs , surfaced as part of an archaeological project supported by the Mexican government and the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH). The institution announced the discovery last week, months after the initial findings were made in January. Following the discovery, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said she would reroute the planned $8 billion train to preserve the site, according to an announcement .…
