So far I only think of GUNS (AK-47, Colts, S&W etc...), wooden furnitures, houses built out of bricks etc... as only things that can last decades and even centuries with no maintenance whatsoever. And we want to colonize Mars and the Moon? With what? Fragile plastic and composite constructs that decay with radiation and thermal shocks? And need work on them every few days or weeks as stuff will keep breaking. The last Moon lander didn't make it to 4 days on the surface on the Moon in 1972 and the astronaut's suits were at their breaking point from the grinding of the Moon dust. And this is the Peak of Civilization? When we walked on another heavenly body. When the average new car you buy has built in obsolescence and a plastic transmission oil pan and when a laptop is meant to die after a few years and a cell phone last only 1 we are truly cooked if something Civilization changing happens.…
