Back in 2013, Nick Trefethen, Professor of Numerical Analysis, University of Oxford and Head of Oxford’s Numerical Analysis Group (https://people.maths.ox.ac.uk/trefethen/index.html) proposed a new body mass index equation (https://people.maths.ox.ac.uk/trefethen/bmi.html), followed soon by an online calculator (https://people.maths.ox.ac.uk/trefethen/bmi_calc.html).

An assessment of the proposed formula was published in 2020 (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7738554/)

We are happy to launch today our very own version of that tool under the title Calculator for Trefethen’s New BMI Equation (http://www.minerazzi.com/tools/trefethen-new-body-mass-index/calculator.php).

Our version lets users do backward calculations by letting them compute one term of Trefethen’s equation in function of the others. The tool supports a variety of weight and height units.
