The Pueblo County coroner on Friday identified the person fatally shot by Pueblo police on Thursday as Tayshawn R. Redford, 19.
The coroner did not release any additional information regarding the incident, which police continue to investigate.
The incident began when officers responded to Carousel Lane after receiving reports of a “fight with weapons” at 12:18 a.m. at nearby Drew Dix Park, according to previous Gazette reporting.
Police said a passenger brandished a gun as officers approached three people in a van who had fled the park. An officer fired their weapon and struck Redford, who later died at a hospital.
It is unclear whether Redford was the passenger who allegedly brandished the gun.
The 10th Judicial District is investigating the shooting, and all involved officers have been placed on administrative leave, per the department’s policy. A dispatcher was also placed on leave.
