LAKEWOOD – As Mackinzy Wall watched her discus soar through the air at Jeffco Stadium, she recognized it was a strong throw. But Wall didn’t think it would shatter a record. When the discus landed in the grass and staff measured the Manitou Springs senior’s heave, it surprised her. The board Thursday at the discus area read 147 feet, 9 inches, which surpassed The Classical Academy’s Hannah Carr’s mark of 143-9 set in 2014. “I thought it was going to be 135 (feet). I thought it was going to be low,” Wall, the 3A state discus champion, said. “The first one is meant to be an easier throw and I was ready to get out there and go for it. I was excited and it was the first throw of my state season as a senior. So I was thinking that I may as well take it all in.” Wall bullied the field all season in discus and finished first in 10 of her 11 appearances in the event.…
