During Amazon MGM Studios ‘ CinemaCon presentation on Wednesday, the star appeared in a pre-recorded bit, pouring honey into his tea as he introduced exclusive clips from the new movie. The footage showed Statham’s character, former government assassin Adam Clay, as he learns that the Beekeepers, an elite clandestine human intelligence organization tasked with protecting the U.S. and operating above governmental jurisdiction, have gone rogue and will kill anyone in their way. The group has kidnapped the president, as Jeremy Irons ‘ character, Wallace Westwyld, a former CIA Director, tells Clay that he’s the only one who “can stop all this madness.” And so Clay jumps into action, wielding plenty of machine guns, a flamethrower and at one point, even harnesses bees as a weapon as he sets out to make things right.
