When luxury lifestyle magazine The Robb Report released its list of the 50 greatest whiskeys of the 21 st century in April, distillers across the world took notice. Two Evergreen State distilleries in particular raised their glasses. Two Seattle-area companies — Woodinville Whiskey and Westland Distillery — made critic Jonah Flicker’s list, punching in at No. 46 and No. 47, respectively. The pair of Washington-produced bottles share space on the list with heavy-hitters like the pricey Midleton Very Rare 40th Anniversary Ruby Edition, which retails at around $20,000 per bottle, and the even more exclusive Yamazaki 50, which retails at around $80,000. Finalists include spirits from Scotland, Japan, Canada, India and across the U.S., with an understandable emphasis on Kentucky.
