The Stanley Cup Final is set, and it will start in North Carolina. The Vegas Golden Knights will face the Carolina Hurricanes for the Stanley Cup. Game 1 will be at Lenovo Center in Raleigh on Tuesday. The Hurricanes defeated the Canadiens 6-1 on Friday, eliminating Montreal in five games. Carolina captured its first Eastern Conference title since 2006 and is going to the final for the third time in franchise history. The Hurricanes defeated the Edmonton Oilers in seven games in 2006. Coach Rod Brind’Amour was the captain of that team. Goaltender Cam Ward was the Conn Smythe Trophy winner for playoff MVP. Carolina lost to the Detroit Red Wings in five games in 2002. Paul Maurice, who coached the Florida Panthers to the last two championships, was the coach that year. The Knights won both meetings against the Hurricanes in the regular season. They handed the Hurricanes their first loss of the season on Oct. 20, 4-1 at T-Mobile Arena, then 6-3 in Raleigh eight days later.…
