Dakota Johnson Lists Midcentury Modern LA Gem, of Viral Open Door Fame, for $6 Million

It’s a big day for fans of midcentury modern design, memes, and Dakota Johnson. The actor’s West Hollywood home, containing the now-iconic green kitchen where she proclaimed her love of limes in a viral 2020 Open Door tour , has come to market for $6 million. The 1947-built Los Angeles residence, which Johnson bought in 2016 for $3.55 million, marked her first big purchase with her Fifty Shades of Grey money. Designed by architect Carl Maston, the 3,200-square-foot home holds three bedrooms and three baths. The Materialists star tapped Pierce & Ward to reimagine the residence, which was formerly owned by television titan Ryan Murphy. “I was immediately drawn to how it was clean but also cozy,” Johnson said in AD ’s March 2020 cover story. “I thought, I’ll never want to sell this place.” Johnson’s kitchen, featuring the famous bowl of limes.
