I'm an undergrad and recently submitted a research paper for presentation at a conference... and it was accepted! I submitted it on a whim and did not expect to get in. I'm obviously excited but now I'm starting to freak out because it's a ~20 page technical paper and I now need to turn it into a presentation. Like, slides of some kind? The audience for the conference will be mostly grad students and faculty. It's an oral presentation and I've been told I have 20 minutes plus Q&A. I'm obviously familiar with the research and it's something I'm excited to talk about, but translating it into a clear, confident presentation and slide deck feels like a totally different skill set. Specifically a skill set I do not have yet. I need reassurance and also advice, if you have any. How do I avoid overloading slides? How do I decide what to cut vs. keep from the paper?…
