I have been thinking about trying to make pemmican for a short trip I’ll be taking and was wondering if the dried protein part has to be red meat. I was thinking it might be more cost effective to try drying out canned tuna or chicken and making the powder that way then mixing with store bought beef tallow and maybe adding dried berries if it doesn’t completely ruin the flavors. That is if this doesn’t taste horrible already which there’s a chance it might. It would definitely save time since canned tuna is already very lean and crumbly and dries fast and is pretty protein dense. Have any of you experimented with this?
