I've been rewatching the show and I just finished season 5 and this was kind of the perfect episode to watch on the Ides of March since Jon Snow is betrayed by his men and stabbed repeatedly. I think it's always assumed that Alliser Thorne masterminded this plot to murder Jon, but something that happened in the episode Hardhome made me rethink that. In that episode Ollie and Sam talk and Ollie expresses his worry over Jon's plan to allow the wildlings through the Wall and Sam tells him that sometimes you have to make a decision that isn't popular, but you do it because it's the right thing to do. I think that when Ollie hears this, and decides that killing Jon is the right thing to do, eventhough it won't be popular.
