My cofounder and I both have stable jobs and have been working on an idea for a few months. We’ve built a prototype and spent a lot of time talking to potential users and industry contacts before deciding whether to quit our jobs. I have financial obligations that make me more cautious, while he’s ready to go all in tomorrow. As we’ve gathered more feedback, we’ve become less aligned on what exactly the product should achieve and the pace at which we should move. I’m the CPO and he’s the CEO, but lately it feels like the boundaries between our roles are becoming blurred. At times, it feels like he’s stepping into product decisions that I should be leading. What concerns me most is that I increasingly feel unheard. Many conversations start with “sorry to cut you off” or immediate disagreement before I’ve fully explained my thinking.
