Article and photos by SONDRA RYMER As summer approaches, families across Colorado Springs begin searching for programs that offer more than just childcare, places where their children can grow, learn, and feel supported. This year, the Salvation Army Colorado Springs Corps is expanding its efforts to do exactly that through the 2026 Red Shield Summer Day Camp . Running from May 28 through August 7, the Red Shield Summer Day Camp is a faith-based program designed for students entering kindergarten through 9th grade. Open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (closed July 3), the camp provides a structured, safe, and enriching environment during the summer months, when many families need it most.
