President Trump is facing a critical deadline in the U.S. war with Iran on Friday as support for the war declines among lawmakers while he remains burrowed in on a blockade that is holding up negotiations to end the conflict. Though officials have offered different markers for when the 60-day deadline set by the War Powers Act actually arrives, Friday marks 60 days since Trump formally informed lawmakers on March 2 of the hostilities. It stands to complicate things for Democrats and some Republicans on Capitol Hill who have voiced concerns about the conflict if it goes beyond 60 days without the greenlight from Congress.
