I'm always looking to make things easier for myself. Call this laziness. Call this drive. Why would I work harder when I can work smarter? In all seriousness, I have really enjoyed setting up my smart home because of all the shortcuts and automations that it presents. Being able to walk up the stairs and ask my smart speaker to turn on the lights so they are already on by the time I get there is a simple yet effective smart home feature I use every day. But I started to think about how to improve other parts of my daily life by relying on technology. That's how I discovered Near Field Communication (NFC) tags. NFC technology is not something I am unfamiliar with, as I use Brick each day to help myself lock in when I'm writing. But getting cheap tags opened up a lot of possibilities for my home that I hadn't realized.
