if you like a high dynamic range and have no distortions, you probably dont need it, but i have seen so many mixes online that just eliminated all frequencies above a threshold, its insane. why do people even do it? their audio is lost entirely and there is no way to get it back. using soft clipping adds saturation (which some may not like), but here is the deal: its better than having all louder frequencies erased entirely.

i am currently trying to remix a hard-clipped song, and any minor modification is a nightmare, which makes me notice. i really ask myself if producers just dont know better, or if they hard-clip their songs on purpose to be un-remixable.
