15s threshold

Hey all. I have several snare drums. All of which are pretty affordable ones. The one I’m playing in this video is the Tama Rockstar snare that came with my first kit when I was 15. (Around 2000 or so). It remains one of my favorite snares. I’ve toured and played EXTENSIVELY with it and it’s lasted me this long. I use good heads, and typically crank it pretty high and I’ve ALWAYS been able to make all my snare drums sound good. I have drummer friends who invest in these super expense snare drums and they sound good too, but not enough to make me stop what I’m using. My question is: is there really THAT much of a difference if your tuning is excellent and heads are good? If so, what are those differences? All thoughts welcome! submitted by /u/-3R1C- [link] [comments]
