Even as Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured that his government will press to set up a fast track court to conduct the trial in the rape and murder of a three and a half year old girl in Pune district, the Maharashtra Congress held him responsible for the deteriorating law and order situation in the State and demanded his resignation as Home Minister. “The rape and murder of a three and half year old girl in Pune is highly condemnable and painful. It seems the accused was also involved in some cases in the past. There is outrage over the incident in Pune… The accused has been arrested but we will take the case to the fast track court. We will request the High Court to set up special fast track court. Also, we will appoint a special public prosecutor. We will urge the court to send the accused to the gallows in a short period of time,” the Chief Minister told reporters.
