Hi everyone, I am 22, Turkish and currently doing my BA in a communications related field at a good university in Istanbul. Next academic year I will be going to Prague for a year long Erasmus exchange. I know that Erasmus itself is temporary and does not give me the right to stay permanently. I am trying to understand what legal options I may realistically have after that year. I am mainly looking for legal immigration advice, especially study based and work based routes after an Erasmus exchange. I want to be honest about why this matters so much to me. I am gay, atheist and from a very conservative religious family. I am closeted at home and I do not see that changing safely. I also do not feel hopeful about my long term future in Turkey. I know Europe will not magically solve my life and I know every country has problems. Still, I feel that if I stay in Turkey long term, I will keep spending a huge part of my life hiding, self censoring and trying to survive socially instead of building an actual future.…
