Tyrell Trey is back with the video for his new single, “I Got U”, his first of 2026. A slightly different offering from his previous single, “My Name”, “I Got U” swaps the nimble rhythms and smooth melodies of its predecessor for an ultra-slick blend of garage, rap and R&B built for the sunshine.
As ever, Trey’s execution is just as stylish in the video. Director Jay Yearsley takes us right back to the days spent huddled around a big boxy TV, with wood panelling on the side, waiting for that one music video to hit the screen.
Taking to Instagram to announce the video and speak on what went into its creation, he writes: “Self esteem issues have crippled me my whole life. Bought my ability to trust my intuitive creativity to halt. This will be the first vision that I’ve seen through from start to finish and truly created like a child again with some of my extremely talented friends.”
