Anyone using AI voice recorders for fieldwork without internet? I’ve been doing field interviews in some pretty remote areas lately (rural sites, low signal zones), and I ran into an issue I didn’t think would be such a big deal. I started using one of those AI voice recorders that auto-transcribe and summarize meetings. Works great in cities. But in the field, it kind of falls apart. Most of these tools seem to rely heavily on cloud processing. So even if the recording works, transcription just… doesn’t happen until you’re back online. In a few cases, the app wouldn’t even process anything properly without a connection, which defeats the whole purpose when you're hours away from stable internet. It made me realize how different “real-world” usage is compared to product demos. Recently I tried switching to a more offline-first setup.
