Sam Levinson Says Miniatures Took a Year to Build in ‘Euphoria’ Scene Showing a Giant Sydney Sweeney

Euphoria creator Sam Levinson has given the background on the Godzilla -inspired sequence in the latest episode “This Little Piggy.” The scene depicted a giant version of Sydney Sweeney’s Cassie marching through a miniature set that replicated Hollywood and DTLA. In an HBO behind-the-scenes look at the episode, the sequence was also described as pulling inspiration from 1958 movie Attack of the 50 Foot Woman . “The Cassie-zilla sequence was probably the coolest thing I’ve ever done,” Sweeney explained. “It was a lot of fun. It took about a year to build all the miniatures,” added Levinson. Cinematographer Marcell Rév described the miniatures as “three or four bigger pieces” that allowed them to “turn the set around.” “This Little Piggy” is the 5th episode of the third season of Euphoria , which is scheduled to conclude on May 31. Along with the buildings and the iconic “Hollywood” sign, the sequence also scaled down trees, wires and streetlights that were almost shorter than Sweeney.…
