Need help & thoughts with this one, i’m not very familiar with northern latitudes I have the opportunity for a free flight to Alaska sometime within the next two weeks, and I always do a solo camping trip for my birthday so with my 21st comin up I figured it’s time. My plan as of now is to land in anchorage, and either bus or hitch to wonder lake for the view of Denali. I was curious if y’all know whether it’s safe enough to hammock camp, and if bear mace is ABSOLUTELY necessary. I would prefer to spend as little money as possible :) Oh also! I usually just use iodine droplets for water purification when i’m camping but everything online has gaslit me into thinking crypto is gonna annihilate me if I only use iodine. ik it takes a while to kill giardia in colder temperatures but that doesn’t really bother me cuz I carry 2-3 bottles at a time and can wait if need be. Do y’all think that’s an acceptable enough form of water treatment for Alaska or should I use something else.…
