To provide some context, I am not an experienced canoeist. I am not even experienced with boats or kayaks. I have been casually fishing for a few years and have experienced the frustration of not being able to find a spot where I can just relax away from tons of people on the lake. I also hear the fishing can be much better further out. I should also mention that I am big. I am not just tubby; I am a big guy and not the tall kind. I am 5 feet 6 inches tall and weigh over 400 pounds. However, this year I started taking weight loss medication and the weight has been pouring off me. I am getting more active and wanting to go fishing more often. Cut to last night. On a whim, I sold my high-end gaming PC for a low price and took the 1,200 dollars I had left after giving some money to my wife. I started hunting for the cheapest way to get a boat. At first I was looking at kayaks, but I realized that even if they were rated for my weight, the way they work means I would always be sitting in water. So I pivoted.…
