Back in 2021, Sega announced that it was partnering with Microsoft to create a “Super Game,” a “large-scale global title” that was set to launch at some point in 2026. Since then, we’ve only really heard small references to the project through Sega’s fiscal earnings reports–and today’s news is no different in that respect, as Sega has just unceremoniously revealed that the Super Game project has been canceled. Considering the project was announced roughly five years ago, the way in which Sega has opted to reveal its cancellation feels oddly nonchalant, as the only reference to the project is a single line in the “Progress through FY2026/3” section of its latest earnings presentation that simply reads “Decided to cancel Super Game.” That’s one way to ditch a very mysterious project fans have been speculating about for years.
