After a long, tense waiting period, Mark Few and the Gonzaga Bulldogs finally got their guy. Massamba Diop, far and away the top remaining big man in the transfer portal, committed to Gonzaga on Tuesday, picking the Zags after recently completing a visit to St. John's. Diop visited Gonzaga in mid-April prior to his trip to New York, with many expecting Rick Pitino to secure a commitment from the elite rim protector. However, Gonzaga managed to get it done, making Diop the team's second portal commitment following Houston guard Isiah Harwell . Diop is from Rufisque, Senegal, and played for Real Madrid alongside former Zag Ismaila Diagne. Diagne, who recently committed to San Francisco , and Diop were teammates at Real Madrid, and the connection between the two played a role in Diop's decision to come to Spokane for his sophomore season.
