Looking for some advice on how to get through the final three books of The Expanse. I’m currently on Chapter 34 of Persepolis Rising. I’ve really enjoyed the series so far, and I also liked the TV adaptation, even though both can spike my anxiety at times. But the time jump has been jarring, especially with how advanced and dominant the Laconians are. I understand that one of the big themes is that human nature doesn’t really change, but after Marco’s defeat and the Belt finally gaining more legitimacy through the Transport Union, I guess I hoped humanity had actually grown a little. Instead, it feels like we jumped forward 30 years just to watch a new empire show up and start the same cycle again, only with better technology. For those who finished the series, without major spoilers: does this final arc pay off emotionally? Is the discomfort with Laconia and the time jump part of the point, or did others struggle with this too submitted by /u/Ok-Remove-7346 [link] [comments]
